This basket was handwoven with 100% natural fibers. Sasa (coconut palm spine) is harvested and split carefully into small sticks, clustered into bundles, and wrapped with voivoi (pandanus) leaf into a woven basket. Handles are made with sturdy 100% cotton canvas. Each basket is unique and truly handmade.

About the artisans: Kioa is an island in Fiji, purchased by settlers from Vaitupu atoll in Tuvalu, who migrated between 1947 and 1962. Initially, 37 people migrated from Vaitupu to live on Kioa Island; more than 235 people followed within a decade.
